Isn't She Lovely? Our new Idol

Congrats to my girl Jordin! I knew you were the one! Finally, my pick takes it to the home stretch!!!
So everyone, you've had a night to sleep on it. Thoughts on the show? Did you like all the stars and stuff...well the majority of them? Remember last year we got Prince. Was Gwennie on the Satellite Beam equal in star power? Green Day?
I could have used a little less Taylor and Sanjaya, and a little more Daughtry.
Anyhoo...I'm super duper tired today. I can't even think straight. More later after I pump up the caffeine intake. Where are those emergency chocolate covered espresso beans I jammed in my desk at Christmas?

Is Idol's invicibility waning?? Reported currently that only 29.5 million watched last night's finale that's on par with Fantasia/Diana. Does this spell doom for Jordin? Or bad season??

blake really deserved to win. whoever wrote that dumb song about how they are owning now just wanted jordin to win. blake really did great on that song for sombody who dosent sing that crap. the show was way too long. and i missed about half of it. sanjaya was disgusting. what did the rest of the ex-idol contestants have to do with anything? lakisha, melinda, they had nothing to do with anything. poor blake must have felt so unimportant at the end, all the other people who were kicked off got to sing. and he had to lose to HER.

Wow . . . pande-crankypants! Sorry you didn't enjoy the show. As for me, I thought it was a very entertaining show. Enjoyed the Beatles songs. Though I don't think Ruben had actually ever heard "Lucy in the Sky." LOVED Carrie's take on Ms. Chrissie Hynde's "I'll Stand By You." Great instrumentation, suited Carrie without being too countrified.

I thought Clive "Skeletor" Davis laid in on a little thick with his praise of Kelly's previous efforts -- as though it were all the work of the arranger/producer/ professional songwriters, etc.

Speaking of Kelly, "Never Again" made me want to crawl in a hole. But, you know, I felt the same way when I heard Alanis' "you oughta know" for the first time. That's powerful songwriting when it makes you physically wince.

Feeling particularly posty today,
The Seester

Since I only got to see the last half hour, I'll try to catch some of the performances on good ol' "youtube".

I did see Carrie with her best impression of "Haley"! The difference is, Carrie can sing really well. It was a very pleasant site ;)

When Jordin performed with Rueban, she sounded like a pro already.

This is only the second time that my favorite and one that I voted for actually won first place. The other one was good ol' Carrie.

I saw a pole on msn today that asked who the best idol winner so far has been? The results had Carrie with a strong first place, Kelly at second and Jordin already at third with everone else falling behind.

The lesser ratings for the final are just because it was a weaker season, that and the fact that I think most people knew Jordin was going to take it. I also think it may have lost some people after Melinda got the boot. I know one of my idol friends didn't watch the results show, I was dissapointed in her ;)

The thing is, whoever you like in American Idol, you need to "VOTE" and vote a lot, that's the name of the game. All those people who thought Melinda should have taken it, should have voted big time.

I am so glad that blake and his beat box didnt win. However I feel like Blake was a gracious competitor the entire season. He is original definitely, but American Idol is really just a beauty pageant for singers.

Crappiest thing of the night...my DVR cutting out right at 10 BEFORE THEY EVEN ANNOUNCED THE WINNER!?!?

I saw Jordin on the news this morning and she was so cute and really just savoring the moment. She was saying that it hasnt even sunk in yet. She also said that she wanted to be the American Idol when she saw Kelly do it, and has been waiting for her 16th bday to try out ever since. She deserves it and Blake hadnt even watched the show before? I gotta respect Jordin's commitment to the cause.

yes the song is smaltzy, but what AI winner song hasnt blown?? They all have to have that feel good messaging. And the song is chosen way before the finalists so it's always a crap shoot.

If Chris didnt get ousted early last year, he would have had a shit time with the song that they had to sing last year too.

But it all comes down to singing, and guess what Pandemonium, Jordin is the better singer. I don't mean to be Bitchy McBitcherson, but it's true.

The great thing is, Blake will still get his record deal so you can support him that way.

And now that the season's over, can we all be rid of Sanjaya already?

Thanks for keeping the blog exciting even when the show wasnt so much. :)

I like the new song...it has it's place.

Yeah, Chris Daughtry might have had a bad time with an "idol final song", but it all depends. He's definitely cruising now. He'll probably be one of the most successful long term from that show.

I'm familiar with some of Scott Krippayne's music (he's one of the guys who co-wrote "This Is My Now").

..."This is my Now", Cole ;)

I really enjoyed the show. Loved seeing the past winners and Green Day is awesome. Love that guys voice. I could have done without Bette though. I reaaly didn't understand where she fit in.

Does anyone know where I can find the link for Jordin on the Jay Leno show? I missed it.

Thanks.

Daughtry's eyeliner from Tuesdeay is still giving me nightmares. Seriously, I'll be in the pit next week when I see him, and I'm going to be yelling, "YOU LOOK LIKE A TOOL" at him if he is wearing that stuff. Sorry, if I have to stand next to teeny-bopper's who are waiting for their moms to come pick them up after the concert and overhear them talk about blowjobs and smoking pot in the woods, not to mention having to buy half-priced beers (I like half-priced beer, but when it is only so cheap because the audience isn't old enough to buy it, I want to kill myself) and get angry because I was NEVER like that at that age (and that's absolutely true -- I had older friends and a brain, I never acted like a loser at all ages shows, hence the reason I hate them as much as I do now), I'll yell at him for looking like a poseur.

The things I do for Chris Carraba.

It was a fun finale - Taylor sucked, I think Clive Davis's un-subtle "screw you" to Kelly was a bit much, but it was fun.

Jordin delivered with that final song, and despite how unfair it was to Blake (let's face it, even if he could sing that sort of thing, he has the integrity to never want to...I felt so bad for him, that was the only time he sold out, and that was because he had no choice), she nailed it and looks the part.

I can't wait to buy his CD though.

Really, you're going to buy his cd, Christina?

What is 1/2 price beer?
